Proposal #1

This proposal seeks community endorsement for TOHU to be formally adopted as the official barter token of the Tohu Network — a unit of exchange between marae, hapū, iwi, and individual members participating in the network.
What this means in practice
TOHU would be the agreed medium for peer-to-peer barter across the network. Goods, services, time, and resources could be exchanged between members using TOHU as a common reference unit, in keeping with the principle of utu — reciprocal exchange that maintains balance and relationship.
This is not a proposal to make TOHU a currency, a security, or an investment instrument. TOHU remains a digital token used within a permissioned community network. The framing is barter — direct exchange of value between consenting members — not commerce in the regulated financial sense.
Why now
The Tohu Network infrastructure is in place: 40 validators, 460 sentry/relay nodes, the explorer at explorer.tohu.network, the Tohu Wallet apps, and the governance system that hosts this very proposal. The technical foundation supports barter-style transactions today. What remains is community endorsement — a clear signal that members agree to use TOHU as a shared unit when bartering with one another.
Scope of this endorsement
If approved, this proposal records that:
What this does not do
This proposal does not assign TOHU a fixed external value, does not create any obligation on members to accept TOHU, does not change tokenomics (the 1 billion TOHU cap and node reward structure remain), and does not alter the network’s permissioned nature.
